Speaker’s Report - April 2023
Why would you go there? Astrolocality techniques - Faye Blake
The April workshop was hosted by Faye Blake, astrologer, therapist and founder of Amsterdam School of Astrology.
Faye has given the attendees of the Workshop some new ideas for their astrological tool box, and a number of techniques to reference to understand how our chart is active all the time and everywhere. Faye outline Astro*Carto*Graphy, which is our chart mapped over the world, relocated charts, our chart in different places, reminding us that all of our birth chart aspects remain the same, so you can not avoid that Mars square Saturn, the local space chart, how to use it in you local environment and how if fans our across the globe from our place of birth. We looked at the charts of Queen Elizabeth, with Saturn on the MidHeaven in London, and with her Saturn line passing through Washington illustrating her appeal on both sides of the Atlantic as a regal ruler. Errol Flynn was another example, and with a bit of digging the lines that you would think would go through LA but were in Papua New Guinea were explained, that was where he was working when he decided to pursue a film and entertainment career. A look a Germain Greer’s charts was also revealing. Within these examples we were a begin to understand how to use the charts and what to look for.
Faye then spent some time discussing some research ideas that she has been pursuing. Faye has named her project Astreopathy, that is apply the homeopathic principles of healing with a sympathetic remedy (more of the same) or with a antidote (the opposing remedy). As practitioners we are encouraged to think of problems as the planetary energies, is it an excess of the energy or is the energy weak and over shadowed. Faye suggest that we can use locations or positions to enhance or reduce the effects of a planet, for example if someone is a diabetes it may not be as good for health to visit a place that enhances Venus or Jupiter without being prepared. When thinking of the remedy understand the problem and what the focus is, and remember that the planets do not act alone, aspects in the chart mean other planets are involved. Faye is working to enhance her psychological practice with using location as healing tool.
We then share some real life experience, and look at question submitted from attendees. This was great and I would like to thank those who shared their charts and experiences, we were able to investigate very different questions and understand how we could apply the various techniques we had been introduced to. All in all it was an informative evening, and I for one wanted to understand why some holidays and places are more special to me then others.
