Presentation: The Astrologer as Healer
Speaker: Mark Jones
More than a simple guide to leading your clients through the intricacies of their natal chart, Mark asks the essential question, what type of healer do we want to be? before presenting a practical and psychologically informed guide to how to reach people and help them realize their potential. Mark then takes us on a journey through the core principles of humanistic psychology and explores other crucial consultation skills.
Topics covered include – a person-centered approach and the nature of therapeutic efficacy; the importance of the collaboration between you and your client so that the chart reading doesn’t become a “performance.” Preparing the space to do the work – the space is both physical, professional, technical, emotional, psychological and even spiritual or energetic. In order to create a vessel for transformation and healing all these levels must be covered. Overcoming astrological jargon and learning to speak directly to people about the meaning of their lives. People are real, the birth chart is a symbolic map of their potential. This symbolism must be regularly checked against the reality of their life. The shadow of the astrologer; the magician complex, the need to perform, the loneliness of the profession, the anxiety of being in a heretical or fringe profession.
This dynamic presentation will provide a core orientation to astrology that maximizes its potential to help people, both for yourself looking at your own chart and any work that you do to help others. Speaker bio
Mark Jones is a globally recognized astrologer, teacher, and consultant. He has authored key books, including Healing the Soul: Pluto Uranus and the Lunar Nodes and The Soul Speaks: the Therapeutic Potential of Astrology. These works blend his extensive knowledge of astrology with his experience as a transpersonal psychotherapist, emphasizing the transformative potential of astrology. His latest book, Planetary Nodes and Collective Evolution, explores the potential of astrology to perceive archetypal and collective meaning both in world events and individual lives.
Jones holds degrees in English and American Literature and an M.A. in Creative Writing. His astrological journey began in his twenties, studying Kabbalistic Astrology, and later expanding through advanced programs in Evolutionary Astrology and Psychosynthesis. He has been a principal teacher in Evolutionary Astrology, especially in the UK, and has taught extensively in North America and globally.
With over 20 years of practice and 10,000 hours of client work, Mark has developed a model for transformational astrological consultations. He offers personalized readings and teaching, focusing on helping individuals achieve their potential. Additionally, Mark provides educational resources, including courses on Evolutionary Astrology and counseling skills for astrologers. He resides in Wales with his family.
